Diamond Terms Defined
Identified as four 4 C’s of diamonds, each aspect works its magic to create a truly stunning diamond. The first C refers to the ‘Cut’ which is the shape of the diamond. The round cut is the most popular choice, however, there are unique benefits to each cut style. The next C ‘Clarity’ addresses the imperfections and inclusions within the diamond, starting from F flawless to I3 obvious inclusions. The third C talks about the ‘Color’ of the stone ranging from colorless to near-colorless. The last C ‘Carat’ is the most initially recognizable characteristic and refers to the weight of the stone.
The diamond’s sparkle is the iconic quality that makes it so special. While shimmering in the sunlight, a diamond interacts and engages with light rays to create the resulting glitter. Fire is the spark that arises due to dispersed light on the surface of the ring. It generates a vibrant rainbow-colored sparkle, depending on the cut and symmetry of the stone. Holding the opposite effect, brilliance refers to the colorless light reflected inside of the diamond, like a series of mirrors bouncing light back and forth. Together fire and brilliance create the illustrious sparkle of a diamond ring.
